If you are a newly contracted provider, or a new employee at a network provider's office or facility, we welcome you to our provider support center. The resources on this site are designed to assist you in your interactions with our members as well as to do business with us successfully.

Kaiser Permanente

The relationship with Kaiser Permanente will extend to Sentara Health Plans members in Northern Virginia. Kaiser Permanente member IDs will be uniquely distinguished with their company logo.

Kaiser Permanente member information will not be available on Availity or Sentara Health Plans Portal. Attempts to search these members will produce a message letting the user know the member is part of the collaboration between Sentara Health Plans and Kaiser Permanente. In order to access specific member information please sign into www.providers.kp.org/mas.

Fair Business Act - Electronic Communications Requirement

The Fair Business Practices Act in Virginia establishes minimum fair business standards for health insurance carriers in the state. These standards include timely payment of claims, handling of additional documentation requests electronically, and specific guidance in provider contracts regarding required documentation for claims payment.

As part of this Act and required by state law, Sentara Health Plans is required to gather accurate contact information for our network providers in order to communicate electronically. Beginning January 1, 2026, Sentara Health Plans will notify of contractual and retroactive denial communications via email on file to comply with this requirement. This change will not impact current processes for Sentara Health Plans government programs. 

Sentara Health Plans has established a form for you to easily update your information. Visit https://forms.office.com/r/pP1tgy6U6X to update your information. Please also be on the lookout for direct provider communication on this initiative. 

 

Please remember to report any changes to us regarding your office, facility, or participating care providers to ensure provider data accuracy. This also helps us to maintain an up–to–date Provider Directory so our members can find you.
